winner of the 2022 Biodesign Challenge Science Sandbox prize for Public Engagement, the Order of the Biodivine is a speculative, immersive theater experience that comedically explores the intersections of religion, science, and interspecies symbiosis in a climate-insecure world. set in a coming-of-age ritual in 2070, this allegorical work uses performance, mycelium-based artifacts, and a choose-your-own-adventure structure to encourage a new perspective on our relationship with genetic modification and the natural world. an educational exhibit, only open at the end of the performance, capstones the learning experience. the exhibition explores the science that informs the performance, allowing audiences to profoundly engage with the production’s themes.
