challenging the status quo of design and manufacturing today, jess thies is a designer focused on living systems, material innovations and circular design strategies to solve the climate crisis.

about
jess is currently studying at Parsons School of Design at The New School for her M.F.A. in Industrial Design. located in New York City, she is a graduate research assistant at the Parsons Healthy Materials Lab and a teaching assistant. she is a community member and volunteer at Genspace, a biohacker lab in Brooklyn. She previously studied at Central Saint Martins in London for a Postgraduate Certificate in Material Futures. In summer 2021, she was a Low Immersion Studio Resident at the Textile Arts Center in Brooklyn. prior, she worked as a designer and project manager for over 3 years for Lori Weitzner. her undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Textile Design from Philadelphia University/ Thomas Jefferson.
